March 31st

Last post of the month and I’m caught up til March 29 on my blankets. They are getting hard to photograph so I put down a towel but that doesn’t look great either.

Wrinkles don’t look good 😌 I’ll  try to find another way for the next update  ☺️

There are a few pink squares on the Madrid blanket,  but it’s hard to see them beside the orange.

Ottawa had some great warm days ☀️
We’ll be at 13 centigrade today and zero and snow tomorrow 🀦‍♀️ I hope it’s an April fools joke on us but we’ll see soon enough.
It’s Easter this weekend and I’m looking forward to eating 2 Cadbury cream eggs πŸ˜‹
They’re 8 points each and well worth every one.
I wish everyone a happy holiday whether you celebrate Easter or Passover.

See you all in April

Finally using new colors

We had such a great week temperature wise in Ottawa. Warmer weather means new colors in my temperature blanket πŸ‘πŸ‘

I can’t crochet the row of squares yet as I’m waiting for tomorrows temperature to finish the row downwards ↘️

A bit of personal info.
It’s the end of March and I’m still maintaining my weight and a loss of  48lbs with WW
This summer will be 2 yrs of being at goal.
Wow, I’m very proud of myself.
BUT
I’m not happy with WW
They are letting many of the coaches go and keeping very few to do our virtual meetings on Zoom.
Of course my coach Carol, who I say helped me very much with how well I’ve done on my journey,  was one of the coaches caught up in the last cuts. Understandably I’m not happy with them for that reason.
They’re making it hard to stay motivated sometimes. I went on an eating spree right after hearing about it and I’m glad I was able to stop myself and get back on track. I know Carol would not be happy to hear I’d given in and fallen off completely. I plan on eating a couple Cadbury cream eggs this weekend coming for Easter though
πŸ₯š πŸ˜‹ 🐣

I made more 2 ingredient bagels (that after baking turned into buns) The holes disappeared.
🀷‍♀️

Before

After

They still taste great. I did olives and sesame seeds in half and Everything Bagel seasoning in the others. Delicious and only 3pts each.

Last update of February

I spent a bit of time today catching up on my temperature blankets, I’m finished up to February 22.

Because of the stitch I chose, entrelac, I can only crochet in one direction ↖️ and the days are going diagonally ↖️↘️  So now I have to wait 9 more days to have a row to crochet. Since it’ll be into March I decided I would post the current picture after all, not much change in the color way.

Top is Madrid and bottom is Ottawa.

Another snowy day in Ottawa

It’s been snowing for 2 hours now and the forecast says we’ll be getting 10-15cm by the time it will end. Ugh 🀦‍♀️

I’m still working on my temperature blankets but I won’t post pictures until it starts to look a bit different. As of now the colours are not really changing.

I’ve started crocheting thread lace collars and am loving them. I have made 2 so far and will probably make more.

I love them so much 😍

On the WW and baking front, I made some 2 ingredient dough and wrapped hotdogs in the dough. They were so good πŸ˜‹
Rob even ate them without complaining.

February and I’m all caught up on my blankets

Hi πŸ‘‹

Since we’ve been in a lockdown in Ontario my days are actually like Groundhog Day so I really wanted to post this update yesterday.

The Plastic Canvas is done until February 1st

This is how I keep track of what colors I’m using ➡️

Done up to January 31st and the white square between months

This one is Madrid Spain πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Έ They are having some nice temperatures for January ⬇️

Ottawa Ontario πŸ‡¨πŸ‡¦ weather has been mild this year, not many changes in temperature but I’m staying true to the temperature and color for that range ⬇️

My WW baking has also been going well, I’ve made the 2 ingredient bagels again this past weekend
I’m getting better at making them and really love them. I also made a Grace Bread and a banana bread
The bagels πŸ₯― are 3 pts on all 3 WW programs πŸ’™πŸ’œπŸ’š
The Grace bread 🍞 is 3 pts onπŸ’™ 0 pts onπŸ’œ sorry, not sure for πŸ’š
My banana bread 🍌🍞 is 2 pts on πŸ’™ 1 pt on πŸ’œ sorry, not sure for πŸ’š

Stay safe everyone

The days are getting colder πŸ₯Ά

Update on my Temperature plastic canvas for Ottawa Canada and Madrid Spain blanket.

The blanket is done in Entrelac crochet and the days are going on the diagonal ↖️↘️ with the white at the start of each month.

Truth be told I’ve also started a blanket with my Ottawa colours and with the same diagonal pattern

Today I finally tried making 2 ingredient dough bagels with Everything but the Bagel seasoning in and on them

Not bad for a first attempt. Not sure what I’d do differently to cut the sourness of the yogurt but they’re kind of like a sourdough without the need of a starter

My husband ate 2 of them so I’ll make them again for sure. Maybe sweetened and with cinnamon πŸ˜‹

So now I’ve changed the Temperature ranges

Good thing it’s early in the year so I decided to change my ranges to be only 5 degrees per colour.  I doubt I’ll be using the top or bottom colours because it doesn’t get that hot or that cold here but with the state of the world you never know.

Since I’ve added 4 more colours I had to redo my plastic canvas

*edit, when I saw the picture I had posted yesterday I hated it because of all of the whiteout I used to change the temp ranges so I redid the color swatch and redid the photo*

I was going to start a blanket too but didn’t want to use my home city for it. I’ve decided to pick the city that I was born in.

I was born in Madrid Spain πŸ‡ͺπŸ‡Έ

Their weather has been crazy this last week and they have had so much snow, something that doesn’t happen often. I’ve been recording the temperatures high and lows and now to decide what type of stitch to use for my blanket...once I have all of January numbers recorded I’ll start on it

Progress on my temperature PC

Day 10 and I’m caught up with the Plastic Canvas. Not much change in the temperature yet but I’m sure the cold -20 isn’t far off

Today I baked a loaf that on the WW sites is called Grace Bread. My first try turned out pretty good.  It’s an oatmeal bread that could be very bland but I added Everything Bagel seasoning on top and it really added a nice flavour to it.
The biggest shock of all was that my husband ate it and liked it!!! He added butter on his so understandably it enhanced the flavour. I toasted mine and put light margarine on it.

Next time I may add garlic in the mix. I follow WW Purple plan and this bread is zero points with the few simple zero point  ingredients

January 6, 2021

I’ve started a temperature plastic canvas picture 🧢

Once I get a few weeks done I’ll decide about whether I’ll start a blanket or not

I’ve picked the colors and temperature ranges as follows, all in Centigrade

White - one square per month

Red    26 degrees & over

Pink     20 - 25 degrees

Orange    13 - 19 degrees

Yellow    7 - 12 degrees

Green     1 - 6 degrees

Blue    0 -    -5  degrees

Turquoise    -6  -  -12 degrees

Purple    -13  -   -18 degrees

Grey     -19  -   -23 degrees

Black   -24 degrees & under

It will be a total of 378 squares...365 days + 13 white squares ( 1 to start and 1 after every month)

So far this year every day has been in the blue range of 0 to -5

The forecast is showing the whole next week will also be in the same range...

Hi, once again It’s been a while since my last post

 Hi all

So we’ve all had a really bad year. With 2020 behind us I thought I’d pick up my blog once again. A new year, a new start to posting (although I doubt I have any followers) no problem, I’ll do it for myself. A digital calendar of a small part of my life.

All of my good intentions since my last post have not panned out. I never made my temperature scarf even though I still like the idea, I’ll try a temperature blanket this year. Not sure what style or stitch of blanket but I’ve started recording temperatures and will start once I have a few days or weeks ready to go...

I’ve also picked up a bit of Plastic Canvas and am almost finished a 12 Days of Christmas project. It was a bit ambitious on my part since it’s 12 panels that will be sewn together. I got the patterns from Pinterest

On a personal front I still have 2 dogs, Rocky who came to me in 2012 and Jetta in 2016, both are senior rescues

Bye for now ✌️

Plaid Hat and Wreath

I've discovered a great blog called Whistle and Ivy
The owner, Bethany has many beautiful crochet patterns.
During her Plaid Week I fell in love with these 2 and had to make them.
Buffalo Check and Plaid are my new obsession.

I used a white faux fur pompom on the hat,  I love the contrast so much.
I couldn't find a burlap ribbon anywhere for the wreath...hard to believe as
burlap has been so popular, or course until I wanted it and couldn't find it.
I'm very happy with the red ribbon and was thrilled when I found the plaid
ornament I used to hang in it.
Links are above the pictures.

hmmm...

So it's day 18 of my temperature scarf.
The weather has been ranging from 0 to -14C so far. My colors are teal, grey and purple. The color combo looks good so far but with so many ends to weave in I'm not sure if I like how it's coming along. That's why no picture yet.
Fingers crossed I start liking it and I can post a picture.
 Bye for now!

New Year and it's time for a new project

Happy 2016
I've decided on making a Temperature scarf this year.
These are the colours I've picked and I'll use them as follows.

White for the first and last 6 rows also for 2 rows between each month.
I will knit one row per day according to the high temperature of the day,
since this year has 366 days my scarf will have 400 rows...that sounds really
long...

OK, my temp chart will be as follows
32 C and above ...red
26 to 31 C............pink
20 to 25 C............orange
13 to 19 C............yellow
7 to 12 C..............green
1 to 6 C................blue
-5 to 0 C...............turquoise
-6 to -12 C............purple
-13 to -18 C..........grey
-19 and below......black

So far the first 3 days are all turquoise as the temp here has been
0 and -2.
I want to make a basket weave pattern so not quite sure how
many rows of each k and p I will do...I'll be starting the actual knitting later so
wish me luck it ends up looking good and that I keep at it since it's such a long project.

Yeah! I've added my blog to Bloglovin'...I hope to have followers to my posts as well as creative work to add for you.

Now that I'm back to crocheting, this is my newest project.

I'm trying the virus-shawl ...I'm using Bernat Mosaic in color Spectrum.
I was lucky enough to have bought a mill ends bag with 7 balls in it for very cheap.
I had been hanging on to it for just the right project and this is it.
I love it so far and think it would be fantastic with jeans.

If you want to try this pattern there are 5 youtube tutorials that are wonderful and easy to follow.
The link is for the 1st of 5 and there are also left handed videos.

This is the latest CAL from the Crochet Crowd.
I made mine to match the throw from last months CAL.
It's also a free Red Heart pattern

Friday, March 15, 2013

Hello followers.
It's been soooooo long since I've last posted.
I've not been crocheting or knitting is many months.
I've rediscovered crocheting by doing a CAL (crochet-along) of a pretty octagons-squares-throw
It's a free pattern and there are 3 youtube tutorials to help with the making and putting together the pieces.
This is Rocky modeling for me.
He's chihuahua mix. He came to me as a foster and a year later he's still here with me. That's OK with me, at this point even if someone wanted to adopt him I would say no way! He's mine.

Canada Day 2010

Hi All.
Have a great Canada Day to my countrymen and a great Independence Day to my friends in the USA!
I know I've been remiss in posting but hopefully I will put my drought behind me and have much to say and post in the future.

Today Canada Day Rob and I went to the Canadian War Museum in Ottawa.

We saw many things but Crochet and Knitting are uppermost in my interests. Imagine my surprise when we saw one of the actual scarves that Queen Victoria crocheted as awards to soldiers in the South African war.

There was also a Camouflage exibit...there was a dress from Project Runway...I'm not sure what season as I don't watch the show. The dress was the one that won that weeks challenge. It was made with a camouflage fabric. Very chic. The pink camo pumps where also a highlight for me. Although I couldn't wear such a shoe I loved it!

I've been crocheting...I'll post some of what I've made in another post.

Good Morning

Good Morning.
I haven't posted anything new in awhile and I haven't been crocheting for the last while either. I haven't been in the mood for it...sort of in a slump...
First off are a couple of Halloween items I made.
The ghosts are a tested item made by Alisha of Fuzzy Feet Boutique her Etsy site is HERE
The Pumpkin sweater for Crystal is something I thought she really needed ;)
I always use the same pattern and embellish differently. That pattern is HERE

The snowman is also an Alisha design that I tested.
The bear ice cream cones are from a Thai pattern that I sort of copied as I can't read Thai...They turned out pretty good for sort of guessing as I went.
